Quick Answers
How do I know if I need therapy or if I’m just stressed?
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or stuck in the same patterns, therapy can help.. even if your life “looks fine” from the outside.
Many people search for therapy because they feel emotionally exhausted, constantly overwhelmed, or unable to fully relax even when life seems manageable.
You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Individual therapy can help you better understand yourself, regulate your nervous system, improve relationships, and feel more grounded in your day-to-day life.
Do you accept insurance?
No, we’re a private-pay practice serving Scotch Plains, Westfield, and Cranford. We provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement. Learn more.
Many clients searching for affordable therapy in New Jersey are able to use out-of-network benefits for reimbursement.
What is AEDP therapy and how does it work?
What is somatic therapy in Scotch Plains, NJ?
Somatic therapy is an approach to therapy that focuses on the connection between the mind and body.
Stress, anxiety, and trauma are not only experienced emotionally, they can also live in the nervous system and show up physically through tension, shutdown, chronic stress, panic, or feeling constantly on edge.
Somatic therapy helps you become more aware of bodily sensations, emotional patterns, and nervous system responses so you can feel more regulated, grounded, and connected to yourself.
At Be Seen Therapy, somatic techniques may be integrated alongside traditional talk therapy depending on your needs and comfort level.
How long are sessions?
Do you offer virtual therapy in New Jersey?
Can anxiety therapy help with physical symptoms like jaw tension, stomach issues, or insomnia?
Absolutely. Somatic therapy addresses physical anxiety symptoms (stomach problems, jaw clenching, chest tightness) by working with nervous system patterns. Read more.
These symptoms are common in people experiencing chronic stress, anxiety, burnout, or unresolved trauma.
How long does therapy usually take for anxiety, stress, or trauma?
The length of therapy depends on your goals, experiences, and the level of support you need.
Some clients begin feeling relief and more emotional clarity within a few sessions, while deeper trauma work or long-standing patterns may take longer.
Therapy is not about “fixing” you quickly. It’s about creating lasting change, healthier coping patterns, and a more regulated nervous system.
We’ll regularly check in about your progress and adjust the process based on your needs.
What happens during the first therapy session?
Your first therapy session is a chance for us to get to know each other and talk about what’s been weighing on you.
We’ll discuss your current challenges, past experiences, relationships, stress levels, and what you hope to get out of therapy. You do not need to have everything figured out before you begin.
We’ll also review any intake paperwork and begin creating a plan that feels supportive, collaborative, and tailored to your needs. Most importantly, the first session is about helping you feel safe, understood, and comfortable moving forward.

Can therapy help with high functioning anxiety?
Yes. Many people with high-functioning anxiety appear successful on the outside while internally feeling overwhelmed, constantly worried, emotionally exhausted, or unable to slow down.
Therapy can help you understand the underlying patterns driving anxiety, perfectionism, overthinking, people-pleasing, and nervous system dysregulation.
Our work together focuses not just on managing symptoms, but helping you feel calmer, more present, and less stuck in survival mode.
Getting Started with Therapy
How do I know if I need therapy in New Jersey?
Here’s the thing: if you’re googling “do I need therapy” at 2 AM, you probably do. Not because you’re broken, but because you’re tired of white-knuckling through life pretending everything is fine.
You don’t have to wait until you’re falling apart to get support. Actually, therapy is way more effective when you come BEFORE the breakdown. If you’re feeling exhausted from managing everyone else’s emotions, losing sleep over racing thoughts, or noticing your body keeping score with stomach issues or jaw clenching, that’s enough of a reason to reach out.
Many clients come to our Scotch Plains practice saying they feel guilty for “not being bad enough” for therapy. But you deserve support before you’re in crisis. If you’re functioning but not actually living, if you’re anxious more than you’re not, if you’ve lost yourself in all your roles, that’s reason enough.
What happens in the first therapy session at Be Seen Therapy in Scotch Plains, NJ?
Your first anxiety session at our Scotch Plains office (or via virtual therapy) is about getting to know each other and figuring out if we’re a good fit. Here’s what typically happens:
We talk about what brought you here: what’s going on right now that made you reach out for therapy. We won’t make you rehash your entire childhood in session one (unless you want to).
I’ll ask about your goals: what would be different in your life if therapy works? What does “better” look like for you?
You’ll get a feel for our style: All of our therapists have their unique style and personality, but there are somethings that we all share. Direct but warm. We’ll call you on your patterns with love, and we won’t let you disappear behind the “I’m fine” mask.
We’ll talk logistics: session frequency, what to expect, how therapy actually works in our Union County practice.
By the end of the first session, you should have a sense of whether this feels right. And if it doesn’t? That’s okay. We’d rather you find the right therapist in Westfield, Cranford, or wherever works for you than stay at Be Seen Therapy NJ out of politeness.
Many people feel nervous before starting therapy, especially if they’ve never talked to someone about what they’re holding on to.
What if I've tried therapy before and it didn't help?
This comes up all the time with clients in our Westfield and Cranford area, and it doesn’t mean therapy doesn’t work for you. It usually means one of these things:
You weren’t working with the right therapist. Finding the right fit matters more than people think. If your therapist felt too clinical, too soft, or just didn’t get you, that’s not a failure on your part.
You were doing traditional talk therapy when your body needed somatic work. Your brain can understand why you’re anxious, but if your body is still stuck in survival mode, nothing changes. That’s where somatic therapy comes in, and it’s what makes our approach at Be Seen Therapy different.
The timing wasn’t right. Sometimes we start therapy because we think we “should,” not because we’re actually ready to do the work.
The difference with AEDP and somatic therapy? We work with your whole system (thoughts, feelings, AND body sensations), and we’re trained to help you feel genuinely safe, not just talk about your problems on repeat.
How long does therapy in New Jersey usually take for anxiety, stress, or trauma?
Some clients begin feeling relief within the first few sessions, while deeper trauma work may take longer.
Truth is, this isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer. Some people feel relief after a few sessions when they finally feel heard and understood. Real, lasting change in your nervous system patterns typically takes 6-12 months of consistent work.
Here’s what we tell people at Be Seen Therapy NJ, you’re not signing up for therapy forever, you’re signing up until you don’t need it anymore. Some clients work with their therapist for a few months during a specific crisis. Others stay for a year or more because they’re doing deeper work on attachment patterns or trauma.
You’ll know therapy is working when you notice yourself responding differently to situations that used to trigger you, when your body feels calmer, when relationships feel easier, and when you’re not constantly second-guessing yourself.
How will I know when I'm done with therapy?
You’ll know you’re done when:
Your default isn’t anxiety anymore. You can have a normal level of stress without it consuming you.
You trust yourself. You make decisions without needing to poll 12 people or spend three days overthinking every option.
Relationships feel easier. You can be yourself without performing, set boundaries without agonizing, and repair when things go wrong.
Your body feels like home, not a battlefield. You’re not constantly braced for impact. You can actually relax.
The patterns we’ve been working on shift. You catch yourself falling into old habits but can redirect without spiraling.
We’ll talk about this together as you get close. Therapy isn’t meant to be forever, it’s meant to give you the tools and nervous system regulation you need to live your life without needing therapy.
Understanding AEDP and Somatic Therapy
What is AEDP therapy (Somatic therapy) and how is it different from regular talk therapy in New Jersey?
Traditional talk therapy focuses primarily on thoughts, emotions, and experiences through conversation.
Somatic therapy also pays attention to how stress, anxiety, and trauma are experienced in the body and nervous system.
Many people find that insight alone is not enough to create lasting change. Somatic therapy helps bridge the gap between intellectual understanding and feeling emotionally safe, grounded, and regulated in your body.
Traditional talk therapy: “Tell me about your anxiety” → You talk, therapist nods, you leave with insights but still feel anxious.
AEDP(accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy) is a type of somatic therapy.
AEDP therapy: “Where do you feel that anxiety in your body right now?” → We work with what’s happening in the moment, help your nervous system actually change, you leave feeling different.
AEDP is experiential (we don’t just talk about feelings, we actually feel them together in session), accelerated (we get to the core issues faster because we’re working with your whole system), and relational (healing happens through the connection we build, not just through insights).
The goal isn’t just understanding why you’re anxious. It’s helping your body learn it’s safe to let your guard down.
Robyn Krugman, LCSW is certified Level 2 AEDP trained and all staff are trained in this model.
What does somatic therapy mean and how does it work in Scotch Plains, NJ?
Somatic therapy works with your body and nervous system, not just your thoughts. It’s for when you understand why you’re anxious but your body still feels unsafe, or when talking about your problems hasn’t actually changed how you feel.
Your body holds onto everything that’s happened to you. Anxiety, depression, trauma – they live in your nervous system, not just your thoughts. That’s why “just think positive thoughts” doesn’t work. That’s why you can have all the insights in the world and still wake up at 3 AM with your heart racing.
In somatic therapy sessions at our Scotch Plains office, we pay attention to what your body is telling you. Where do you feel tension? What happens in your chest when we talk about this? When did you just hold your breath?
When your body feels safe, your mind can finally quiet down. That’s the difference between coping and actually healing. It’s why clients from Westfield, Cranford, and throughout Union County come specifically for our somatic approach.
What actually happens in an AEDP therapy session?
An AEDP session is different from what you might imagine therapy looks like. We’re not just talking about your week (though we do that too). We’re tracking what’s happening in your body and emotions in real time.
Your therapist might notice you just crossed your arms when you mentioned your partner, or your voice got quieter when you talked about your mom. We slow down those moments and explore what’s happening underneath.
We work with actual feelings in the session, not just stories about feelings from your past. If sadness comes up, we don’t push it away or analyze it – we stay with it and see what it needs.
And here’s what’s different: None of our Be Seen Therapy team acts like ablank slate. You’ll know when something moves your therapist , when we see your strength, when we’re rooting for you. That relational piece is part of what makes healing happen in AEDP therapy.
Can therapy help with physical symptoms of anxiety in New Jersey?
Absolutely. This is actually one of the main reasons people come to our Union County practice.
If you’re dealing with:
- Stomach issues that get worse when you’re stressed
- Jaw clenching or TMJ that no dentist can fix
- Chest tightness that’s been cleared by your doctor
- Exhaustion that doesn’t match your sleep
- Headaches that show up before big events
These aren’t “all in your head.” Your body is keeping score, and your nervous system is stuck in survival mode even when there’s no actual danger.
Somatic therapy addresses the root, the way trauma and stress get stored in your body. When your nervous system learns it’s safe to relax, these physical symptoms often improve or disappear completely. Many Westfield and Cranford clients come specifically for anxiety-related stomach issues and see significant improvement.

What's the difference between anxiety and stress?
Here’s how we like to think about it. Stress is about what’s happening to you. Anxiety is about what might happen to you.
Stress is a response to real pressures (work deadline, sick kid, money worries). When the stressor goes away, your body calms down.
Anxiety is your brain treating hypothetical scenarios like actual threats. You’re making disaster scenarios about things that haven’t happened and probably won’t. Your body is in fight-or-flight mode even when you’re sitting safely in your living room.
The tricky part? High-functioning anxiety looks like stress management to everyone else. You’re handling everything, you never miss deadlines, you’re the one everyone counts on. But inside? You’re exhausted from your brain running 47 scenarios of how everything could go wrong.
About Be Seen Therapy's Approach
What makes Be Seen Therapy in Scotch Plains, NJ different from other practices?
A few things that make our Scotch Plains practice different:
We work with your whole system. Not just your thoughts, not just your behaviors; your thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and relationship patterns.
The Be Seen Therapy’s training is specialized. AEDP Level 2 and Complex Trauma II training means we can work with the deep stuff that keeps you stuck, not just surface symptoms. This level of training is rare in Union County, NJ.
You won’t disappear behind professionalism here. All of our therapists are warm, are real, and you’ll know when something you said moves us. That vulnerability is part of what makes healing happen.
Be Seen Therapy’s team works specifically with high-achieving, anxious women who look like they have their life together but are drowning inside. We GET that particular flavor of suffering common in Westfield, Cranford, and Scotch Plains professionals and moms.
We focus on nervous system healing, not just symptom management. You’re not here to learn coping strategies (though we’ll develop those too). You’re here to actually change how your body responds to stress.
How does Be Seen Therapy work with high-achieving women in New Jersey?
Because we GET you. We’ve worked with hundreds of women in Union County who look like they have their life together on the outside while drowning on the inside.
You’re not coming to therapy because you can’t function. You’re coming because you’re tired of functioning at the expense of actually living. You’re exhausted from being everyone’s everything. You’ve lost touch with who you are underneath all the roles you play.
Here’s what’s different about therapy for high achieving women:
We don’t just address your anxiety: we address the perfectionism driving it, the people-pleasing patterns keeping you trapped, and the belief that if you’re not doing everything perfectly, you’re failing.
We won’t let you perform “good client;” You don’t get points for having the most insightful therapy sessions. Your therapist will call you out (with love) when you’re managing their emotions instead of your own.
We work on integration, not balance; You don’t have to choose between being a good mom and being yourself. Between career success and mental health. You can be ambitious AND have boundaries. Successful AND human.
What is self-esteem therapy and how does it work in Scotch Plains, NJ
Self-esteem therapy isn’t about affirmations or trying to convince yourself you’re good enough. It’s about understanding where your self-worth got tangled up with performance, approval, or being useful.
At Be Seen Therapy in Scotch Plains, we work with the 5 C’s of Self-Esteem.
Compassion – Learning to treat yourself with the kindness you automatically give everyone else
Connection – Building relationships based on who you are, not what you do for people
Choice – Recognizing you actually have agency (even when anxiety tells you there’s only one “right” answer)
Courage – Taking up space and speaking up even when your voice shakes
Conviction – Trusting your own judgment instead of constantly seeking external validation
We don’t just talk about these concepts. We practice them in session. What does it feel like in your body when you say no? What happens when you let yourself be imperfect in front of me?
How do you rebuild self-esteem as an adult?
Here’s the hard truth: you can’t think your way into better self-esteem. Reading self-help books and knowing intellectually that you “should” value yourself doesn’t change how you actually feel about yourself.
Rebuilding self-esteem happens through:
Corrective emotional experiences: Having someone (like your therapist) see your mess and not leave. Making mistakes and learning you’re still worthy. Speaking your truth and being met with acceptance instead of judgment.
Changing the relationship with your inner critic: That voice that tells you you’re not doing enough? We’re going to understand where it came from and why it thinks it’s helping you. Then we’re going to help it relax.
Small, consistent boundary practice: Every time you say no to something you don’t want to do, every time you speak up, every time you let yourself be imperfect, you’re retraining your nervous system about what you deserve.
Somatic work: Your body holds the truth about your worth. When you learn to listen to it instead of override it, self-esteem becomes felt, not just thought.
Do therapists in Scotch Plains, NJ offer both couples and individual therapy?
Our Be Seen Therapy NJ team works with both in our practice! And often, individual anxiety therapy naturally improves relationship dynamics (because when you’re less anxious, you show up differently in your relationships).
For couples therapy in Westfield, Cranford, and Scotch Plains: We help you understand that most relationship problems aren’t about incompatibility, they’re about attachment injuries and nervous system patterns. The way you fight matters more than what you fight about. We work on repair, not just communication.
For individual therapy: Even if you’re not doing couples therapy, we often talk about your relationships. Your anxiety doesn’t exist in isolation – it shows up in how you relate to your partner, your kids, your friends.
What does "trauma-informed" actually mean?
“Trauma-informed” isn’t just therapy buzzwords. With my Complex Trauma II training, it means I understand that:
Trauma isn’t just big catastrophic events. It’s also growing up in a house where emotions weren’t safe, being the kid who had to be perfect, having a parent who was unpredictable, experiencing chronic invalidation.
Your behaviors made sense at some point. That people-pleasing? That perfectionism? That need to control everything? These were brilliant survival strategies when you were little. They’re just not serving you anymore.
Healing isn’t about rehashing every bad thing that happened to you. It’s about helping your nervous system learn that the danger has passed and it’s safe to let your guard down.
Your body holds the story. We can talk about your childhood all day, but if your body is still braced for impact, nothing changes. That’s why somatic therapy is so effective for trauma.
Practical Questions
Does therapy in Scotch Plains, NJ accept insurance?
No, Be Seen Therapy is a private-pay practice, which means we don’t work directly with insurance companies. Here’s why this actually benefits you:
Privacy: Your insurance company doesn’t get copies of your therapy notes or require a mental health diagnosis.
Flexibility: We can work together for as long or as short as you need, without insurance limiting your sessions.
Your choice of therapist: You’re not limited to whoever’s in-network in Union County. You get to choose the therapist who’s actually the right fit.
That said, many clients from Westfield, Cranford, and Scotch Plains use their out-of-network benefits to get reimbursement. Most people are very surprised at how affordable therapy can be when they use their benefits and get reimbursed. We will provide you with a superbill (detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.
How much does therapy cost in Scotch Plains, NJ?
Contact us for current session rates. We offer a free 15-20 minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit before you commit financially.
While we’re private-pay, many Union County clients find that the out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance helps offset the cost. We provide detailed superbills that make the reimbursement process as easy as possible.
How long are therapy sessions?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. We can offer 90 minute sessions for couples or for individual clients who need more time for deeper work.
How often will I need to come to therapy?
Most clients at our Scotch Plains practice start with weekly sessions because that’s what creates momentum and real change. Your nervous system needs consistency to feel safe enough to actually shift patterns.
After a few months, some people move to every other week for maintenance. We’ll figure out what works for your specific situation.
Here’s what I tell people: if you’re only coming once a month, we spend most of the session catching up on what happened since I last saw you, and we never get deep enough to create real change.
Do therapists in Scotch Plains, NJ offer virtual therapy?
Yes. We offer secure virtual therapy sessions to clients located anywhere in New Jersey.
Online therapy can be a flexible option for busy professionals, parents, college students, or anyone who feels more comfortable meeting from home.
Virtual therapy works great for: busy schedules, avoiding commute time, clients who travel frequently, or when life chaos (sick kids, car troubles) would make you miss an in-person session.
In-person can be more powerful for: somatic work where I’m tracking your body language closely, couples therapy, or if you just need a physical space away from home to do this work.
We can also mix it up – some weeks in person, some weeks virtual, depending on what’s going on in your life.
What towns in Union County, NJ have therapy practices nearby?
Be Seen Therapy is located at 551 Park Ave in Scotch Plains, NJ and sees clients from throughout Union County including Westfield, Cranford, Fanwood, Mountainside, Berkeley Heights, Summit, Clark, and Garwood.
We also offer virtual therapy for anyone in New Jersey, so if you’re not local to Union County our AEDP and somatic approach is still accessible to you.
If you’re searching for a therapist in Westfield or Cranford and haven’t found the right fit yet, that’s usually why people end up here. We specialize in therapy for women, anxiety, perfectionism, and trauma for high-achieving adults who’ve tried therapy before and felt like something was missing.
What's your cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours notice for cancellations. Life happens, we get it. But therapy works best when it’s consistent, and last-minute cancellations disrupt that.
If you need to cancel within 24 hours due to genuine emergency (you’re sick, your kid is sick, actual crisis), we’ll work it out. But if you’re canceling because you’re “too busy” or “having a good week and don’t need therapy,” that’s usually your anxiety trying to protect you from getting too vulnerable.
We’ll talk about patterns around cancellations because they often tell us something important about what you’re avoiding.
How do I know if a therapist in Scotch Plains, NJ is a good fit for me?
You’ll know we’re a good fit if:
You feel seen, not managed. We aren’t going to just nod sympathetically while you perform “good therapy client.” We’re going to notice when you’re performing and call you back to what’s real.
You appreciate direct feedback delivered with warmth. We’’ll tell you when we think you’re BS-ing yourself, but we’ll do it with so much love you might actually thank me for it.
You want to do the real work, not just feel better temporarily. We’re not here to make you comfortable… We’re here to help you grow. (Though yes, you’ll feel better too.)
You’re ready for therapy that includes your body, not just your thoughts. If you want purely cognitive work (changing your thinking) our Be Seen Therapy Therapists probably aren’t your person.
The only way to know for sure? Schedule a consultation. We’ll talk for 15-20 minutes and you’ll get a feel for whether this is the right fit.
Specific Concerns
Can therapy help with perfectionism and high-achieving anxiety in New Jersey?
OMG, yes. Perfectionism is one of our specialties at our Union County practice because it’s really high-functioning anxiety dressed up as standards.
You think perfectionism keeps you safe. If you do everything right, people won’t criticize you. If you’re always prepared, nothing bad can happen. If you look perfect, no one will see you’re struggling.
But here’s what’s really happening: your perfectionism is making you sick. You’re exhausted. Your jaw hurts from clenching. You can’t sleep because you’re mentally reviewing everything you did today and planning everything for tomorrow.
We work on perfectionism not by lowering your standards, but by helping your nervous system learn that you don’t have to be perfect to be safe. By working through the fear underneath the perfectionism. By practicing being imperfect in a relationship (therapy) where it’s actually safe.
Do you work with people-pleasers?
Absolutely. And we GET IT because every people-pleaser we’ve ever worked with in Westfield, Cranford, and Scotch Plains thinks their people-pleasing is what makes them a good person.
Here’s the truth: People-pleasing isn’t kindness. It’s a trauma response.
You learned early that managing other people’s emotions kept you safe. That saying no meant rejection. That your own needs didn’t matter as much as everyone else’s comfort.
The problem? Your anxiety doesn’t actually protect others from discomfort. It just makes YOU miserable and teaches them that you don’t have needs.
We work on people-pleasing by:
- Understanding where it started (usually childhood)
- Identifying what you’re really afraid will happen if you say no
- Practicing boundaries in session where it’s safe
- Healing the part of you that believes you’re only valuable when you’re useful
Can you help with anxiety that causes stomach problems?
Yes, this is actually one of the main reasons people come to our Scotch Plains practice. Many clients from Westfield and Cranford specifically search for help with anxiety-related digestive issues.
If you’re dealing with:
- Nausea that flares before stressful events
- Stomach pain that doctors can’t explain
- IBS symptoms that worsen with stress
- Digestive issues medical tests can’t diagnose
Your body is keeping score. Your nervous system treats stress like danger and shuts down digestion. Somatic therapy addresses the nervous system patterns creating these symptoms when traditional medical approaches haven’t worked.
Read our full blog post about anxiety and stomach issues for more details on how this works.
I'm not "bad enough" for therapy - will you still work with me?
This question breaks my heart every time because it shows how deeply you’ve internalized the idea that you only deserve help if you’re in crisis.
You don’t have to be falling apart to deserve support. You don’t have to wait until you’re completely burnt out or your marriage is ending or you’re having panic attacks.
If you’re exhausted from white-knuckling through life, if you’re losing yourself in all your roles, if you’re anxious more than you’re not, that’s enough of a reason. Many high-achieving women in Union County come to therapy because they’re functioning but want to actually LIVE instead of just survive.
Actually, therapy is MORE effective when you come before the breakdown. When you still have some energy to do the work. When you’re functioning but want to feel better.
What if I'm scared to start therapy?
Of course you’re scared. Therapy means being vulnerable with a stranger, admitting you can’t do it all alone, and potentially feeling things you’ve been avoiding for years.
Here’s what we want you to know:
Being scared is normal. Every single client who’s ever sat in the Scotch Plains office was terrified the first time. You’re not broken for being scared.
We go at your pace. I’m not going to drag you into the deep end on day one. We build trust gradually, and you’re always in control of how deep we go.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t need to come in with a perfect explanation of what’s wrong. “I’m anxious and exhausted and I don’t know why” is enough.
The consult is low-pressure. We talk for 15-20 minutes, you get a feel for the therapist you chose, and there’s zero obligation. If it doesn’t feel right, that’s okay.
Starting is the hardest part. Once you’re here, we figure it out together.
Ready to Get Started?
How do I schedule a free therapy consultation in Scotch Plains, NJ?
Easy. Go to beseentherapynj.com/contact You’ll have a few options:
- Fill out the contact form and we will get back to you within 24 hours to set up free 15-20 minute phone consultation.
- You know you are ready and just want to book a consultation: You will see a link calendar and you can pick a time slot that works best for you
- You want to talk to a human: Please call us at (908)445-5531 and we will help you through the process.
What should I expect from a free therapy consultation call?
The consultation is a low-pressure conversation where we both figure out if working together makes sense.
Your therapist will ask what brought you to reach out right now, what you’re hoping therapy can help with, and answer any questions you have about AEDP, somatic therapy, or logistics at our Union County practice.
You’ll get a sense of your therapist’s style. Whether she feel slike someone you could be real with, whether her directness feels supportive or too much, whether this seems like it could actually help.
By the end of the call, we’ll both know if this is a good fit. If it is, we’ll schedule your first session (in-person in Scotch Plains or virtual). If it’s not, we’ll help you find someone who might be better suited to what you need.
What do I need to bring to my first session?
Just yourself. You don’t need to fill out pages of intake paperwork or bring documentation of every traumatic thing that’s ever happened to you.
If you’re currently taking any medications or seeing other providers (psychiatrist, primary care doctor), it’s helpful to know that information.
But mostly? Just show up at our Scotch Plains office or log into the virtual session. We’ll figure out the rest together.
